• Fantastic

  We came to celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary in April 08 and had a fantastic evening. The service was superb, efficient, unobtrusive and timed to perfection. The food was brilliant, not too much as most restaurents give, but felt comfortably full and it was cooked to perfection. The silence and peaceful ambience was particularly appreciated. Thank you for a lovely evening. Mary and Dave.

• Always a Pleasure

  My evening meals at the Shalimar have always been a great pleasure. The food is brilliant, i've never been let down, but what makes it better is the professional and friendly service provided, the location is great...i hope to enjoy many more meals at this place....the best indian cuisine in Derby!

• Excellent dining experience...

  As for my wifes birthday last weekend i decided to visit Shalimar for an evening meal..i was introduced to the Shlaimar by a mate who is a regular customer and told me i won't be let down. The dining experience was excellent...we recieved a warm welcome....food was delicious.....and the restaurant itself beautiful! Deffinately worth the visit!

• Derby's No 1

  I'm a great fan of the indian cuisine, and having visited almost every indian restaurant in Derby, i must say that The Shalimar has proved to be the most outstanding. Brilliant customer service and mouth watering food which is prepared just the way you like it to be, the Shalimar certainly lives up to its name and truly is in a class of its own. I've been a customer at the Shalimar for over 15 years and go there almost every week with friends and family, it is something you cant resist! Keep it up Shalimar!!

• A Disgrace

  I went to this restaurant with my friends to see what it was like as I had booked the same for a few weeks later for a birthday meal with probably 20 people to attend. I was glad I went to see what it was like because the prices are too expensive portions too small and poor service. I have cancelled my meal for 31 March!!!

• bland and tasteless

  we made the error of choosing the wrong place last night .. there are several Indian restaurants within a block of this place .. and it was awful .. the food was tasteless and bland .. without a hint of spice of flavour .. portions were small and the serving was uninspired .. told the owner, who said, "but we serve lots of customers" .. I suggested most of them were coming from the pub and couldn't tell the difference .. go to your choice of a place down the street, but avoid this lazy diner .. {:>(
