About Us

Access Consultants. We provide access audits, access Statements, appraisals from plan, DDA advice and information on access for disabled people to new developments and services. We will ensure that you meet the duties imposed on you by the Disability Discrimination Acts, and provide an inclusive environment.

Changing Places Toilets

Severely disabled people may be unable to use a 'standard' accessible toilet - which we have become used to seeing in many buildings used by the public.A 'changing places' toilet incorporates a hoist, adjustable height changing table, and a WC or clos-o-mat toilet, allowing assistance to be given in the sanitary facility.Changing place toilets are still relatively few and far between, but people will travel to locations which have a facility, as all the family can enjoy a day out together - without time limits. The British Standard for best practice in inclusive design, BS8300, in the 2009 update recommends a 'Canging Places' toilet in large pubically accessed buildings, including educatonal buildings, shopping centres, motorway services, and council buildings.A Parliamentary reception was held in June this year to gain support for the wider provision of the sanitary facilities, so it's likely that you will spot a 'Changing places' toilet soon.To check where the facilities are already available - check www.changingplaces.org
