The only place in Derby you can go 'yam cha' or eat dim-sum and despite being the only restaurant in our city offering a dim-sum menu (not only on Sundays but every day of the week) their freshly prepared dishes rival those offered in London's China Town restaurants. At around just £7 to £10 per head you can't go wrong. The restaurant is attractive, clean and comforatable and the service is amazing. Every time we have visited the Emperor Inn the staff have been extremely friendly and helpful. In fact, before discovering this place, we have paid more to eat kept warm buffet takeaway style rubbish full of MSG and preservatives at some Derby Chinese restaurants just because our friends wanted to eat Chinese food. How tragic! Our only regret is not finding this place sooner! If you love dim-sum and didn't know about the Emperor Inn, it's a must. Also if you have never tried dim-sum before and wonder what it's all about. Just ask the staff for the dim-sum menu and if you don't understand how it works they are more than happy to help you out. Don't forget though, it's usually a daytime meal so I don't know about this specific restaurant but the menu may not be available in the evening. Phone first to ask. They also have a traditional Chinese evenng menu as well as the typical Chinese menu designed for westerners (sweet and sour dishes, etc. you know the score!)
