I specialise in providing learning assistance in reading, writing, spelling and basic maths functioning for those with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia and ADHD (referred to collectively as dyslexic thinkers), on a private tuition basis. Generally parents come to me at their whit's end with the frustration of the recognition and statementing process.
I recently met a young man who has been provided with a generous IT package to help him. The technical staff he was provided with didn't know how to link the hardware and use the software. So he was left, with the instruction manual, to work it out for himself.
And even if he had worked out how to use this IT in the two intervening years, he couldn't carry much of it around with him, so wouldn't have been any better off for having it.
