About Us

Vintage and Cake hires out vintage tableware for afternoon tea parties and bakes cakes for all occasions, including celebration cakes, novelty cakes, cupcakes and wedding cakes. We organise and hold afternoon tea parties and tea dances, which is a lovely theme for any party, including hen parties, weddings, birthdays and Christenings. Vintage and Cake offers a free consultation and cake tasting, we also offer a styling and set up service so come to us and we promise to make your party or event beautiful.

The beginnings of a small business

I started this little business in my head about 2 years ago. I have worked in television as a researcher and an assistant producer then went onto events management. My passion though is for vintage and cakes, so vintage and cake was born.It all started with my lovely Gran, she always drank tea from a china cup and saucer and I remember her bringing in a trolly filled with delicious cakes and cucumber sandwiches for afternoon tea. Its stuck with me and I love the decadence of afternoon tea. I really love baking and often bake cakes for friends and family and I have always baked as a child with my mum. However the vintage side of it has creeped in of course and I wanted to include selling vintage clothes and hiring out vintage china for parties, as I have built up quite a few over the years, from trawling flea market and hand downs from my mum, my gran and my great gran. I have some beautiful tea sets and cake stands... It is hard to explain the feeling I get when I am surrounded by vintage, I just love it and I really hope my customers will too.. but its only the beginning so there is a long way to go yet...I just really think you have to go for things in life as although it is ridiculously cliched you only get one life. This idea has been in my head for a while so I just wanted to focus on giving it a go. I quit my full time job as an events manager and now I am a full time, cake baker, vintage clothes and china hirer outer!! I sometimes really dont know how to explain my business and some people are deperate for me to seperate out the two but NO it is definately Vintage and Cake the two come hand in hand as its the experience that counts. I see sophisticated hen parties wanting to have garden parties with a vintage theme, summer parties for no reason other than cake is nice and the sun is out. Vintage is just lovely.
